Tempatico embeds HOPE into places. We EMPOWER governments, corporations with the know-how on creating and managing human centric workplaces, districts and cities.
Clients come to us when things seem less hopeful cities or districts in decline or corporations that are stuck unable to attract nor retain top talent.
Like our name suggests ( a hybrid of Tempat which means place and Simpatico which means having an affinity with) our methodology helps fill delivery gaps or assists by helping our clients create programmes that strengthens their communities' affinity with the place.
Through deep listening, we work closely with local councils, CEOs, city managers, the placemakers, or place owners to create contextual solutions to turn around districts that are hollowing out or corporations that are at a tipping point of growth but cannot move forward.
Our main area is that of Place (Tempat).
Because everything is connected, we look at a multi-web of relationships and their impact on the places around them.
These are the four Places that we serve:
Urban Place
Place Led Strategy, Placemaking, Place Branding and Urban Rejuvenation.
Corporate Place
Corporate Culture and Transformation, Customer Journey Mapping, Social Purpose, Corporate Narrative and Corporate Strategy.
Cultural Place
Creating and curating cultural 'product' and narratives that drive the Creative Economy, generating economic value and vitality for cities.
Inner Place
Coaching, Leadership Building, Individual Narrative & Learning.

As a consultant for IPG Mediabrand, Tempatico has been working in 2020 with a large government corporation undergoing change, on developing a strategy for their corporate communications division as well as building a brand personality for their C-suites.
The corporate strategy work entails creating a programme that empowers the division with the tools to align and deliver their objectives in alignment with the overarching corporate vision and mission.
The programme enables the teams to developing critical thinking skills needed to meet their internal and external customers' needs, and prioritise their delivery. The finale stage of this programme will see teams set their 2021 team and individual KPIs in order to meet the corporations goals and objectives.
In our work with both corporations, NGOs, social enterprise and governments, we see a pattern of talented people with immense potential working in a places or positions that are not aligned with their north star. When this happens dissatisfaction and unhappiness ensues potentially creating toxicity in work places.
Leaders that work in toxic places do not deliver their best and this impacts everything - whether it be city design and management, or corporate performance.
Tempatico developed Back to You a self-empowerment programme in collaboration with Scaling People Asia, to provide guidance for individuals and corporations seeking to align with their true north.
As the founder of The Listening Tree and Tabs Creative Projects, Jia Ping has designed and curated multiple programmes such as Listen to the Voice Within an award winning Arts in Education Programme for PS The Children to teach children how to protect themselves from sexual predators.
She has also conceptualised and implemented several Arts for Health programmes with Selayang & KL Hospitals working with doctors and nursing staff as well as the patients of children's wards. She also produced an Arts in Education programme with funding from The British Council called Gorgeous by Anna Furse tackling eating disorders.
In 2017 Jia-Ping, as Programme Director of Think City for Kuala Lumpur, conceptualised and co- curated with Susie Kukathas, Arts on the Move (AOTM), Malaysia's longest running arts programme in a transit hub in Masjid Jamek LRT station. She also led the creation of the WUF9 village comprising, pop up parks, micro housing installations, pop up retail and interactive experience.
In 2008 Khazanah Nasional’s Korridor Utara (KKU) Division approached The Listening Tree (headed by Jia-Ping Lee) to address the challenge of a rapidly declining George Town on the eve of it being awarded a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
KKU had assembled a team of local and international experts comprising master planners, heritage and conservation experts, architects, economists and traffic experts to create a compelling case for the rejuvenation of George Town. That strategy called The George Town Transformation Programme (GTTP) was to guide the growth of George Town’s heritage core for the next 10 years. The team however lacked an agreed narrative for George Town.
Jia Ping led the team towards a brand strategy that created a cohesive narrative that united members of the team towards a singular goal of George Town reclaiming its glory as the ‘Jewel of the East’- a brand that would pivot the city from an industrial base to the next stage, one that attracts new businesses and talent alike.
The next stage of the branding was to create, design and produce a high level presentation comprising video and document to the Prime Minister of Malaysia.
The results: GTTP led to the creation of the urban rejuvenation outfit called Think City. The subsequent Think City Grants Programme together with a host of state and local government interventions have catalysed the rejuvenation of George Town garnering international titles as -Top 10 Best Cities to visit by the Lonely Planet (2016) and CNN in 2019 declared it the 13 Most picturesque towns.
In their effort to expand Damanasara Uptown and transition into the retail market with the development of The Starling mall and the adjacent condominium, Jia-Ping was commissioned by See Hoy Chan to rejuvenate the brand in order to attract younger talent.
The project comprised brand strategy development inclusive of an employee brand proposition and customer experience mapping.
This brand strategy became the blueprint for their HR with regards to their talent and led the organisation down a LEAN path to address issues of delivery gaps, environment sustainability and place management. The strategy also supported the design briefs for both the mall as well as the condominium.
Damanasara Uptown and the Starling is now a thriving community thanks to the enlightened leadership of See Hoy Chan.
